Fingerprint Friday: Rain

By MAD21

I am the last person you will ever hear asking for it to rain. I love my sunny days. But after a month and a half with no rain and weeks of record breaking temperatures in the 100s, I was ready for it. I have never seen it so dry in our area. For the first time in 22 years, I actually set the sprinklers out to water our lawn. Of course, this is partly due to the new grass seed that was put down after all our yard excavation was completed, but I would have done it anyway because our grass and flowers were dying.

Well, last Saturday the heavens opened. I awoke just before 6:00am to the sound of what can only be described as a waterfall enveloping our house. It poured all day that day and for several days since then. You can almost hear the earth sighing with relief. Thank you Lord, for your cleansing rains. For the refreshing sound and feel of fresh water falling from heaven... covering the earth in your fingerprints.

Fellow blogger Beki at The Rusted Chain has a really great weekly post she does every Friday called "Fingerprint Friday." We are to look around and see where we can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Anywhere? Go find out where Beki saw God this week, and be sure to check out the other bloggers who linked their stories as well.

I like rain. Good thing, too, since I live in WA. But 100 degree temps? GAAA!!! You might want to move here. Sarah Salter is moving here, she just doesn't seem to realize it yet. Ready to start packing?

I know exactly what you mean about hearing the earth sigh in relief with the rain. I feel that way often here in NW GA. We had a four year drought and when it finally was over, it definitely felt like everything was praising God for the rain. I love the sunny days too but I now am very thankful when the rain comes and washes everything clean and fresh...How like God to provide showers to cleanse his creation! Great post! Have a good weekend. Vicki

It's amazing isn't it? Something (like rain) can be welcomed or despised, refreshing or destructive--it's all about the context. Thanks for this post, Ginny. Feels good just reading it. :)

I'd rather see the sun too but I know it's good for the earth and the flowers when it rains. Gotta have balance like the Three Bears. Not too wet, not too dry, just right. :)

Wendy... sorry, WA is too wet for me. I need my sun. Sarah told me you were trying to talk her into moving there. Don't you take her away from me!

Thanks so much for all the comments friends!
